CAPCOM OUTLINES PLANS FOR THEIR KEY BRANDS THROUGHOUT 2017
Licensing Opportunities for Resident Evil™, Street Fighter™ and Monster Hunter™ brands throughout Europe

LONDON, UK – June 13, 2016 - The gaming and marketing focus for Capcom throughout 2017 will be on the company’s leading brands; Resident Evil™, Street Fighter™ and Monster Hunter™.

Capcom’s 2017 starts with the highly anticipated release of Resident Evil™ 7 on January 24, as the company continues to build on the survival horror series astonishing success having now sold over 69 million units worldwide. Over 2 million people globally have already downloaded the terrifying announcement demo for the upcoming title from this year’s E3 convention and interest continues to surge in the build up to release across consumers, media and retailers.

Alongside this explosive start to the New Year the celebrations will be kicking off early for the 30th Anniversary of the world-famous fighting brand Street Fighter™. Capcom continues to support the launch of the latest title in the series – Street Fighter™ V, with ongoing new free content updates including additional characters and extra game modes throughout 2017 there’s never been a better time to get involved in the fight. The Capcom Pro Tour will continue to roll out throughout 2017 as the yearlong esports league for Street Fighter V. Attracting the best players from all over the world to compete for the title of Capcom Cup Champion and the chance to win their share of a spectacular $500,000 prize pool. The Capcom Pro Tour, already in its third season, has seen explosive growth since its inception with millions of viewer’s worldwide through live broadcasts on Twitch and ESPN with all of this continuing to be built upon for the series success throughout 2017.

2016 saw the release of the latest title in the Monster Hunter series – Monster Hunter™ Generations. Continuing to grow the interest in the iconic Japanese gaming phenomenon throughout Europe, the company has seen sales increase year on year with each new release in the series. With the continuing success from this recent release Capcom will continue to host regular hunting sessions across Europe with its loyal fan base and seek to attract further players to the series, replicating the success the series has seen in its country of origin – Japan.  With new modes to make the title more accessible than ever before, hundreds of weapons to play with and the most customisable gameplay experience to date, Monster Hunter will continue to be a key focus for Capcom throughout the next year and beyond.

Outside of the marketing activity for the company’s three most successful gaming brands, Capcom will expand on brand activities for other key gaming series including Dead Rising™, Mega Man™ and Ace Attorney™.

Capcom has capitalized on the long standing popularity of its gaming brands to evolve a core licensing programme. They now have a number of licensees for several of their iconic gaming brands across fashion apparel & accessories, posters, prints and gifting, plush for Street Fighter and the exciting new POP Vinyl collection from FUNKO about to launch.
