GLOBAL ICONS TO REPRESENT VESPA
- GLOBAL ICONS TO REPRESENT VESPA – The Iconic Italian Brand to Develop the Most Exciting Licensing Programme Worldwide

LONDON, UK (October, 2016) – Industry-leading brand licensing agency, Global Icons, announced today its exclusive worldwide representation agreement with Piaggio Group for Vespa, the historical scooter brand that has become a Modern Myth, a Fashion Statement, a Personal Expression and that this year celebrates its 70th birthday with over 18 million vehicles sold worldwide.

With a successful base of licensed products in the Eyewear and Gifts space, Global Icons will complement the program by expanding into the Fashion, Lifestyle and Accessories categories at a global level.

Through its licensing programme, Vespa aims to deliver products that reflect the superior technology, innovation and iconicity of the brand, whilst taking into consideration the unique and powerful brand heritage.

David Williams, General Manager at Global Icons Europe Ltd. stated, “Our agency is thrilled to partner with this amazing brand and deliver a premium brand experience, by introducing new consumer touch points, whilst maintaining and leveraging the iconicity and the quality of Vespa. It will be our priority to target prospective licensees that can supply products that reflect the brand’s values of uniqueness, quality, iconicity and technology. The key products targeted are lifestyle apparel and accessories, bags and luggage, leather goods, shoes and watches, for both adults and kids. But we foresee great results also in the hard goods space, with a specific focus on stationery, back-to-school, gifting, home décor and food & utilities tools”.

ABOUT Vespa

Born in 1946, Vespa (which means “wasp” in Italian) was Piaggio’s answer to the need of a low cost ‘two wheel car’ product for the masses.

In 1960, after only 14 years of life, Vespa sales reached 2 million vehicles and, in 1988, reached 10 million vehicles.

In 2016 Vespa celebrates its 70th birthday with over 18 million vehicles sold worldwide.

Throughout the decades, Vespa has become an interpreter and an expression of the society in which it lives and a symbol of Innovation, Performance and Italian Creativity.

Vespa is an iconic, functional and beautiful MADE IN ITALY product, appreciated all over the world and that year by year wrote the history of global mobility; the brand’s timeless style and technical format make its products something unique and inimitable, combining rational, functional and emotional elements in its scooters and being recognised all over the world as the classy and irreverent side of light mobility. http://www.vespa.com
